This applied research focused on the development of a mental framework model based on an
intrapersonal reflection. Development of the mental framework model required three stages –
introduction of critical competencies, development of a personal leadership philosophy, and
inclusion of complementary competencies. By proceeding through these stages, an emerging
leader, or a leader looking to improve performance, developed a solid understanding of who they
are, identification of goals to achieve, and a direction for how to succeed. This study was
substantiated by case study and review from successful leaders within creative environments
including Bob Iger (entertainment), Ed Catmull (film and animation), and Pete Carroll
(professional sports). This capstone created the framework for future leaders to utilize and build
off for maximizing potential and effectivity.
