In recent years, the World Health Organization (WHO) has highlighted the shortage of the health workforce, which has been considered as a global crisis not only in developing countries but in developed countries as well. The UK is one of the most prominent countries where the healthcare industry has increasingly suffered over time. One of the most affected is the National Health Service NHS, a government-funded health care system that is the largest single-payer health system in the world. However, Brexit decision has seriously exacerbated health human resource and talent management challenges because a high number of health workers are from the EU countries who would be mostly affected. This will be clear if we know that some reports indicated that after Brexit nearly nine out of every ten European workers in UK would no longer eligible for a visa and remaining in Britain under current immigration rules. According to Social Market Foundation report in 2016, that will lead to more than 1.6 million workers affected. All these challenges should lead the government and NHS leaders to take their responsibilities by reviewing old policies and to announce urgent assurances about European employment status as well as formulating short- and long-term strategies. Examples of proposed recommendations include the introduction of modern data analysis methods and talent making from the internal labor market, as well as new policies aimed at increasing staff retention. All this will not work without serious will of government to support these strategies politically and financially with a view to solve these issues and serve interests of all UK’s citizens.
