      • [A] Nairobi National Park

Nairobi is the only city in the world with a major wildlife park in the city. Wide open grass plains and backdrop of the city scrapers, scattered acacia bush play host to a wide variety of wildlife including the endangered black rhino, lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, buffaloes, giraffes and diverse birdlife with over 400 species recorded.

This is a two-hour walk.  Please bring comfortable walking shoes.

      • [B] NYUMBANI VILLAGE

This is a sustainable village located 2.5 hours from Nairobi (Machakos District, near Kwagonza) where 1,000 orphan children because AIDS  live with 120 grandmas (not necessarily biological grandmothers): The project was founded by Late F. Angelo D’Agostino SJ in 1999 and nowadays is a very good example of rural development, culturally rooted, sustainability in the use of resources, microcredits, education… you can see it at www.nyumbani.org

      • [C] EDUCATION TOUR

Includes tour of the Catholic University of East Africa (CUEA), St. Aloysius  Gonzaga (Jesuit) Secondary School, Strathmore Business School (Opus Dei), Hekima University College (Jesuit). Stop for lunch at own expense is included. Guided Tour of KIBERA, largest urban slum in Africa ($25). This is a two-hour walk.  Please bring comfortable walking shoes.

      • [D] MINI SAFARI.

        This includes two parks near Hells Gate National Park: KSW Lake Naivasha Hippo Camp and Cresent Island.  Neither site has big cats, so you can walk among the zebra, giraffes, etc.

Maasai Mara Safari
(Africa’s Greatest Wildlife Reserves)

Optional Trip – separate cost

We depart at 7am for Maasai Mara one of Africa’s Greatest Wildlife Reserves, situated in south-west Kenya. Together with the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania, Maasai Mara forms Africa’s most diverse, incredible and most spectacular eco-systems --- and possibly the world’s top safari big game viewing eco-system. It hosts over 95 species of mammals and over 570 recorded species of birds. July begins the famed and unforgettable Wildebeest Migration.  Along the way we will stop at the Great Rift Valley, the continuous geographic trench, approximately 6,000 kilometers (3,700 mi) in length, that runs from Lebanon to Mozambique.We will view animals along the way to our stay at Safari Lodge.  After checking in, we will go on a late afternoon Game Ride to see the evening feeding time.  Then return to the hotel for dinner and a relaxing evening. The next day we will rise early, check out, go for a second game ride to see the morning feeding time, followed by a game breakfast.  Animal viewing will continue as we begin our drive back to Nairobi.
The group will arrive in Nairobi in time for those catching late evening flights out of Kenya.  Others will check into the Roussel House in Karen or a hotel of your choice. Fee includes transportation to and from Nairobi, two safari rides in a pop-up safari van with expert guide, breakfast, and evening accommodations.
