In recent years, we have seen a rapid growth of generative artificial intelligence (AI) applications that are affecting almost every field, including business education. While generative AI tools afford many advantages, they also present new challenges for educators. Advantages include enabling intelligent information search and providing answers to structured problems. Some of the key challenges include circumventing learning processes, difficulty in detecting plagiarism, and introducing incorrect information. In light of the development of generative AI, one of the important imperatives for faculty is to adapt and redesign their pedagogical approaches. Jesuit education has traditionally relied on the Ignatian Pedagogical Paradigm (IPP) which has as its five stages context, experience, reflection, action and evaluation. In 2020, an Inspirational Paradigm was proposed for Jesuit business education that emphasizes experiential learning, integrated knowledge, a moral compass, community, a global paradigm, adult spirituality, and dignified work and meaningful impact. This paper discusses implications of generative AI for Jesuit business education and explores how these AI developments can be leveraged to implement the Inspirational Paradigm.
