Project Overview

Under the sponsorship of the International Association of Jesuit Universities (IAJU), a Taskforce representing the six regions of the world was convened in March 2019 to develop a pathway to drive transformation in Jesuit Business Education.

A first step was the drafting of “The Inspirational Paradigm for Jesuit Business Education” in response to the most recent Apostolic Preferences of the Society of Jesus. The report was released in June, 2020, and the American Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU) Business School Deans are interested in continuing to encourage the development of materials that will assist Jesuit business schools in the US and worldwide to align themselves with the Inspirational Paradigm.

Project Goals

The second round of this project will continue to use a challenge grant program to encourage the development of materials – such as videos, podcasts, teaching notes, etc... -- that faculty can use to integrate the principles of the Inspirational Paradigm into their teaching, as well as to develop materials that would support co-curricular programming consistent with the Inspirational Paradigm.

Scope of Work

The scope of work will vary with the type of materials developed. Deliverables might include, but are not limited to, cases, videos, podcasts, simulations, teaching notes, supporting materials, etc.... It is expected that some projects will entail more work than others, and incentive grants will vary to match the scope, with grants ranging between $1,000 and $10,000.

Evaluation Metrics and Criteria

A five-member committee will review proposals and make awards with the available funding, taking into consideration evaluation metrics and criteria articulated below. The committee will develop a rubric consistent with the principles laid out in the RFP and use it to guide its decision making.

Projects will be evaluated using the following criteria:

• Advancement of the aims of the IP
• Relevant expertise and experience of participants to produce a high-quality project.
• Evidence that the project will foster collaboration between and meet the needs of multiple Jesuit business schools. Preference for authors from two or more Jesuit universities with preference given to Global North - Global South collaboration.
• Special consideration will be given to those institutions that have not participated in the first three rounds.
• Degree of innovation in project scope.
• Ability to leverage resources from other sources in the production of the project.
• Applying faculty must come from a school that is an IAJBS dues-paying member and shows evidence of IP support such as hosting an IP Lecture Series, providing supplemental funds or course releases for faculty to pursue IP projects, or is a financial contributor to the RFP project.

Submission Requirements

Proposals will be evaluated based on these materials:

• Information on the qualifications and experience of project participants (including CVs)
• A budget detailing the major spending categories, including stipends to grant participants and non-salary expenditures
• A description of the project written with the evaluation criteria in mind
• Sources and amounts of any other funding expected to support the project (including from the home institution(s) of participating faculty)
• Project timeline, with finished product due on or before October 31, 2024
• Proposals should not exceed 1250 words and ten pages including any attachments (excluding CVs)
