Many inexperienced people have wrongly assumed that anybody can build a commercial building and that the knowledge, skills, and abilities are easily acquired. It takes years of effort to become skilled at construction and even more education and training to manage an entire project from start to finish. In recent years, project management software has been developed to help construction firms coordinate all the elements of a project, including accounting and internal controls. After this case, students will be able to:
1. Critique internal control using the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO) 2013 framework.
2. Evaluate organizational decision-making based on the Prosci ADKAR change management model.
3. Determine the potential impact of decision-making on stakeholders.
4. Use criteria to recommend a project management software vendor.
5. Justify a vendor recommendation.
