This case recounts the acquisition of Twitter by Elon Musk and the alleged federal human resource (HR) violations that occurred.  It focuses on the sequence of events and the decisions to terminate a large percentage of the Twitter workforce, including many in top leadership positions. HR students should be able to review this case and discuss it in terms of HR and organizational-level outcomes. Students should also identify the legal implications for the entity, most notably of the WARN Act for which Musk was accused of violating. Students should be able to offer alternatives for personnel actions within the context of labor shortages/surpluses.
