Professor P sat down at his computer to grade the final assignment of the semester, but he was surprised and disappointed when one of the reports was flagged by the university’s plagiarism software as a 58% match to another report. Each team of students participated in a two-week computer simulation and submitted a final report that detailed their decisions and results. The semester had been non-eventful, and Professor P was ready for his winter break to recharge and prepare for the next semester and a whole new group of students. He thought the only thing left to do was finish grading the final assignment, but if the flagged report was plagiarized, he now had another task to complete. How should Professor P proceed? What sanctions should he suggest, if any, for the students?
