The home building industry has been extremely competitive. There was always a struggle between customer satisfaction and profitability in both residential remodeling and new home construction. The only things that could have been leveraged were labor hours and material. There was never a chance for everything to be perfect. One must constantly choose between being cost-effective and creating the best product. You can throw time, money, and material at some things, but it may not be correct. This case demonstrates some of the struggles to maintain profitability in the construction industry by using two examples.
