Bohemian Grove: An Auditor’s Dream or Nightmare?

In June of 2023, several former employees proposed a class action lawsuit against one of the most secretive and elite men’s clubs in the United States. A century and half old playground for the elite, the organization faces seven labor law allegations including several labor code and FLSA violations. The case is unique in that it reveals several alleged employment and wage theft issues for an organization that is shrouded in secrecy, the campground of the Bohemian Club, the Bohemian Grove in the Northern California redwoods. This case presents an opportunity for auditing students to explore a business and its environment in order to develop an argument for engaging or not engaging a client.
